Sioux Falls was founded on the banks of the Big Sioux River and named for the gorgeous waterfalls that tumble over cliffs of rare pink quartzite. Today, Sioux Falls is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country and boasts a population topping 141,000. Forbes Magazine ranked Sioux Falls the best small city in their list of Best Places for Business and Careers and Kiplinger rated Sioux Falls the 8th best city for low taxes. South Dakota has no personal state income tax, making it a very attractive place to be employed. Business students can chose from programs at a number of career and four-year institutions, including Colorado Technical University, National American University, and the University of Sioux Falls. The city boasts a favorable job outlook for business students and expects to see a whopping 52.5% increase in business services positions through 2010, as well as a 17.4% increase in positions in the finance, insurance, and real estate sector. Upon graduation, students may seek employment with some of the city's largest employers, including Citibank, Household Credit Services, Lodgenet Entertainment Corporation, Midland National Life, or Avera/McKenna Hospital. During their free time, Sioux Falls' students enjoy visiting some of the city's many attractions, including Falls Park, Washington Pavilion of Arts and Sciences, Great Bear Recreation Park, Sertoma Butterfly House, and the Great Plains Zoo and Delbridge Museum of Natural History.
